Happy Holidays

Hi Holiday-wishers! This is my third year in this community and its so much fun every year! The past few years Ive sent out my granted wishes first before posting my list but I think Ill post first this year and mix things up:) My name is Samantha, Im 23 years old and live in Canada. i run a home daycare and am married with a husband and 2 birds:P. Thanks for checking out my list!

1. STICKERS!!!!!!!! I Have 8 kids in my daycare and sticker time is the favorite time of the day! Each kid gets to choose one sticker and they treasure them! I actually have one that WILL NOT take stickers off her hand! She loves them so much that she wears them for DAYS until the stickyness actually wears completly off. It makes them SO excited when I add new stickers to the box and they would be beyond thrilled to get some more!

2. keychains from different cities of countries- My husband has an AMAZING collection of them! Ive been posting this on my list each year and he gets so excited each time I get mail incase there is a keychain in there for him.

3. Homemand Christmas ornaments
I love decorating the tree and I would love to have some more ornaments for it! I especially love handmade ones:)

4. Cookie Cutters for playdough and crafts
My kids have severe allergies so I cant use pre-used cookie cutters for food but I would like to do some cool crafts this year with cookie cutters. If you have any used ones, we would love to receive them!

5. Your favorite recipe that is kid friendly AND Free of: dairy-nut-soy-egg-seseme-strawberry-mango-kiwi-seafood. I only have a few meals/snacks that the kids can and will eat. This may be a good chance to get new ideas. Let me know:D

6. Socks- One for me! I love colourful socks! Especially ones with frogs on them.

7. A penpal for the daycare kids - Most of them are learning to write and read and they ALL love getting mail (Our trip to the mailbox is always highly anticipated). If anyone has kids (one or even a classroom full) it would be very cool to set them up as pen pals.

8. Chocolate- Hot chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, Any type of chocolate. I <3 Chocolate!

9. Homemade christmas gift ideas- Im making fancy olive oil bottles, bath salts, candles, necklaces. I love making homemade gifts. Send me your best ideas!

10. Holiday cards - I love filling the mantle with them every year! Its so nice to get greetings from new friends and Ill make sure to send one back to you too!

What age are your daycare kids? I have kid's that LOVE talking to/writing to/etc with other kids but they rarely get the chance to (longlonglong story, I'll explain if needs be, but the kids aren't serial killers and like writing and sending pictures and postcards and stuff).
My youngest 2 are 3 years old and the oldest is 9. They would love to exchange letters! Every time we send something they each need to add their own touch (Makes for very full and interesting envelopes lol)
Spiced hot chocolate recipe
Spiced Hot Chocolate

Makes 6 cups

15 whole cardamom pods
12 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
2 star anise pods
¾ teaspoon coriander seeds
¾ teaspoon grated or ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
In a separate bag:
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
¾ teaspoon vanilla

Pour milk into a heavy-bottomed saucepan and add sugar to taste, all the spices and red pepper flakes. Cook on low heat to a simmer and stir until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat, cover and let mixture steep for approximately 20 minutes.

Add cocoa powder and vanilla and bring back to a simmer, whisking until blended. Strain through a sieve, leaving behind spices, and pour into mugs.
Can be doubled or multiplied as necessary.

You can also make this dry (use a vanilla pod instead of the vanilla essence), add the cocoa powder, divide it into single-serving sizes and bag and tag it for Christmas gifts :)

Also, children love Fairy Breakfast (possibly rename for boys!) - add edible lustre to dried oatmeal and bag and tag it with the instructions for making porridge. It'll be shiny :)
Re: Spiced hot chocolate recipe
YUM! Sounds so good! I wonder if I can find that luster without nuts it would be so cool!! Thanks for the awsome ideas!!!
Dairy/Soy-Free Macaroni and Cheez (4-6 large servings)
1/2C flour
1C nutritional yeast
3/4-1t salt
1/4t pepper
1/4t onion powder
1/4t garlic powder
2.5C rice milk
3T vegan butter spread or olive oil
12oz pasta (1lb for less 'saucey' pasta)

`Cook/drain pasta according to directions on box
`In pasta pot, whisk together all other ingredients over medium heat until smooth(add flour slowly, while whisking or it will clump up)
`Fold pasta back in, and remove from heat when thoroughly coated with sauce of desired thickness

(I've found the ingredients are subject to proportion - I like more garlic and pepper, for example. This is the closest thing I've yet found to "real" macaroni and cheese since going dairy-free. It's one of my favorites!)
Re: Dairy/Soy-Free Macaroni and Cheez (4-6 large servings)
Oh wow! THANKYOU! I was trying it with rice cheese singles and it tasted AWFUL! I think ill try and make this for lunch today:D:D You totally made my day, thanks!

I'll send you stickers and cards, happy Holidays! Going to add you onto my address list.
How old are the daycare kids? And how able to write are they/how supervised can they be in their writing?

I'm an English teacher in China, and my students are mostly in the 6-9 age range. I'm not sure if postage will be an issue, since China's far off and all, but if you think that some sort of pn pal exchange for a few kids would be a good match, let me know!

That would be really cool!!!

My youngest is 3 and oldest is 9. I have some 5 year olds that are as capable to write as a 9 year old and some older ones who are less lol. I would certainly help them all though and we would read the letters together. We could even do something like a classroom swap where we just write to your whole class and so on to practice writing, reading and comprehension.

If you want you can send me you address too and we can send a letter and pictures, etc next week!
*waves* I also live in Ottawa! I can definitely send some stickers along. Also, I have a couple friends who are vegan and am pretty into vegan cooking, so I can definitely send a recipe or two as well.
Oh sweet! Go Ottawa! Thanks! That'd be great! Whats your list's link? That would certainly be a convinient one to fill:D
I have keychains from the Bahamas. Would your husband be interested in one of those?
Oh ya for sure! Hed love it! We actually decorated our christmas tree with all his keychains this year. Its different but pretty cool!
drop me a pm with your email and snail mail and ill send you some stuff
OTTAWATONIAN!! (I just stalked your profile :P)

ME TOO! This makes it a 100% easier to get you stuff. I could even find a way to have it delivered... or meet up. And I love stickers, so I'm willing to do that!! :D
