And a partridige in a (banana) tree!

Hello All! I'm Allison, commonly called Allie on campus. I'm a junior at Washington University in Saint Louis (Missouri, USA). I'm a Drama and Psychology double major, I do Nano, write plays, have been involved in fandom since I was 12 (Alias, Harry Potter, Heroes (kinda), Doctor Who, and Torchwood), am a sorority girl (Chi Omega!) and immensely proud of it (and among other things love that my sisters not only laugh at my fandom geekery, but some join me in it), and have alternatively been described as "intense", "quirky", and "ridiculous". One day I made a paper-bag puppet for fun (his name is Herb) and offered to kitten-sit for my friend, two things that my roommate decided sum up a lot of me. :D If you are only able to fulfill one of these, I'd like to point you to number seven.

Thanks so much for reading!

Gimme an L! (Love!) I! (Independence!) S! (Serendipitous!) and a T! (Teacups!).

Here’s my biggest wish, and the biggest reach, but if I’ve learned one thing, it’s that theatre is a small world. I’m studying stage management and intending to work in the field when I graduate -- I would love to watch the call of a Broadway musical. If you know someone whom I could talk to about this possibility, or if you are someone who could possibly help make this happen, I would be ever grateful for it. If house count is the question, I would happily buy a ticket. I’m planning on being in NYC in early January if that helps.

#2) If you happen to have random books (fiction, nonfiction, journals, cookbooks, anything) that you no longer want, I would love if you sent them my way!

Same goes for if you have a book you love but want to keep (understandable!) - I'd love a recommendation.

#3) Mix CD of songs that mean something to you. You can either leave me to imagine your life from the songs, or you can tell me why they mean something. (If doing this digitally is easier for you, that's perfect!)

#4) This one's pretty rare. I have two musical loves: HAIR and Violet. I would absolutely love anything related to the musical Violet, by Jeanine Tesori and Brian Crawly. I have the OOBST, I'm interested in seeing other productions of it. If you have it on DVD I can tell you how to upload it to your computer to email, or if you would prefer to snail mail a copy that would be amazing too. Or if you directed it or were in it, I'd love to talk about your production's concept for it. There is so little available on this show.

#5) Cards, Postcards, Letters, oh my! If you need ideas for what to write, check out numbers six, eight and nine.

#6) I love to be in the kitchen, and am looking for new recipes. My favorite recipes have come from Sam’s Café and have all been offered by people on LJ – people here know how to make good food! I love trying what other people like to make.

#7) Every year I participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life - I would so very much appreciate donations to Relay/ the American Cancer Society. This one of the more important events of the year to me. The fight against cancer is something that has the power to effect everybody. If you are unfamiliar with Relay- it is a 12 hour walk from 6 PM to 6 AM to celebrate cancer survivors, remember the loved ones lost, and fight back against this disease. My personal fundraising goal this year is $250. You can donate directly (still tax-deductible) at If you'd rather donate directly or to your own team/organization, please tell me. Thank you.

#8) Quotes!
I collect quotes. Funny, meaningful, poignant, meaningful-to-you-in-a-way-it-can't-be-to-anyone-else, all quotes.

#9) If you're going to mail something, I'd love it if you included a list of few things that make you happy. I have a book, called the Happy Book, in which I have a huge list of things that make my friends and I happy. Repeats welcomed, and there's no limit. Contributions have ranged from one item to over 300 (over multiple entries). I'd love to have some other additions - I'll add their numbers and paste them into the book :) It’s been going about a year and a half now and currently has 5,097 entries.

#10) Surprise me! :) Address and email included, so anything goes!

I went to WashU and did relay too! Please say hello to the chubby squirrels by the library for me.

I'm sending a holiday surprise your way.
I have nothing really to add but best holiday wishes, will most likely be sending a card closer to the holiday season.

But I am wondering, were you in Ragtime?
I did, it was incredible.
I'm a theatre girl and I always thought of Webster as the only school here in MO worth anything drama-wise, but hell if that didn't change my mind.
I absolutely LOVE your list! And I will be sending you some things soon. :)

oh also i love love love this excerpt (not really a "quote" but still):
"That’s how I started. It’s not a story to be proud of, you might say. And I’m not. But I’m sure that even this foolish adventure was useful to me later. These are things that make your back broad, which isn’t something Nature gives everyone. I read somewhere—and the person who wrote this was not a mountaineer but a sailor—that the sea’s only gifts are harsh blows and, occasionally, the opportunity to feel strong. Now, I don’t know much about the sea, but I do know that that’s the way it is here. And I also know how important it is in life not necessarily to be strong but to feel strong, to measure yourself at least once, to find yourself at least once in the most ancient of human conditions, facing blind, deaf stone alone, with nothing to help you but your own hands and your own head…"

no problem for postcards with quotes! I'll try to see what else I can do as well.

I love your wishes! I majored in Theatre and minored in Psycholoy (I am so math-impaired I didn't want to deal with the statistics class) I stage manage, direct and occasionally act.

1. I can't help you with it directly but I know someone who did this last year. She got a list of some of the major theatres and just started sending out requests in July and August for a September trip. I know one said yes for sure, and I think another few said it would be fine, but their times didn't fit with her dates.

I will be sending you some things :)

I just made this for Turkey Day and it was nummy!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake 3 8-ounce packages of Jiffy corn muffin mix according to package directions. Let cool. Crumble into a large bowl. Add to slices of white bread which has been torn into bite-sized pieces. Mix well. Turn bread mixture to allow it to dry as much as possible. Add 1 cup diced onion, 2 8-ounce cans sliced mushrooms, 4 large ribs celery with tops (finely chopped) and 2 cups chopped English walnuts. Add salt and pepper to taste, poultry seasoning to taste and sage to taste. Add enough turkey or chicken broth to make mixture very moist. Pour into a greased 10 x 15-inch baking pan. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until lightly browned.
Miau! *copies list and adds it to her book so will remember what's on this one*

You're 2 cute!
#8 - I have no idea who said it, but here you go:

"When life hands you lemons, make grape juice.
Then you'll have something delicious and leave everyone wondering how you did it."

And a latin quote that I like.
"Vale, valeo."
Which means "If you are well, I am well," or "If you are strong, I am strong."
Re: edited: oops, swapped two digits in the mailbox number! Fixed now. :)
